Continental Tires aims to lead the way towards tomorrow’s mobility

The tire manufacturer Continental is preparing for Automässan 2023. When the exhibition opens, they will be on site to exhibit two new tires and talk about the company’s role in promoting tomorrow’s sustainable mobility.

“Automässan is an important meeting place for us, as it is Continental’s ambition to play a leading role in future developments as a supplier of tires for light and heavy vehicles”, explains Per Linder, Product & Business Development Specialist at Continental Tires.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to find out about new products and new product concepts:

“Our latest developments are characterised by sustainability, environmental consideration and traffic safety. In other words, products that can meet the requirements imposed on tomorrow’s sustainable mobility and transport systems”, he continues.

Recycled materials

Continental’s aim is to only use sustainable materials in the company’s tire production by 2050. The increased use of sustainable materials will occur gradually, and recycled PET bottles are enabling Continental to take yet another step on the path towards a circular economy.

“When we launched the ContiRe.Tex technology earlier this year, it represented the first volume production of tires using polyester yarn from recycled PET bottles. Ten percent of the tires are made up of polyester from PET bottles not covered by any deposit-refund systems. Around 40 recycled PET bottles are needed for a set of standard passenger car tires”, Per Linder explains.

As part of the company’s ambition to play a leading role in the green transition, Continental has participated as a founder and premium sponsor of the Extreme E off-road racing series for electrified SUVs.

One benefit of this initiative is the engagement of the Swedish Extreme E driver Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky as an ambassador for Continental Tires. Mikaela, who drives for Rosberg X Racing in Extreme E, went close to winning the 2022 championship together with Johan Kristoffersson.

Premiere for two new tires

Continental will be exhibiting two new tires at Automässan. One is the passenger car tire PremiumContact™ 7, while the other is the truck tire Conti Hybrid Generation 5. There are several years of development work behind the new tires, with focus on maximum safety. PremiumContact™ 7, Continental’s flagship product in the passenger car tire sector, is a summer tire that utilises innovative technology to produce a high level of safety and performance on both dry and wet roads. Conti Hybrid is a premium tire for regional transportation. It features a new tread pattern and rubber compound to produce robust tires with a long useful life.

“At Automässan 2023, the team at Continental wants to draw attention to tomorrow’s tire technology”, concludes Per Linder of Continental Tires, while also welcoming everyone to visit the company’s stand.
